It’s moronic. Currently, decision makers don’t really understand what to do with AI and how it will realistically evolve in the coming 10-20 years. So it’s getting pushed even into environments with 0-error policies, leading to horrible results and any time savings are completely annihilated by the ensuing error corrections and general troubleshooting. But maybe the latter will just gradually be dropped and customers will be told to just “deal with it,” in the true spirit of enshittification.

My main takeaway is that some contrived notion of “national security” has now become an acceptable justification for business decisions in the US.

I also had to switch accounts because after an update, the banking app didn’t work any longer on my rooted phone and I couldn’t log in. Maybe I’m missing the point, but COL in other countries is also only a fraction of the US’s. We don’t live in hunger and squalor over here, you know. Plus, to move, you won’t need significant savings.
No, the real issue, as with all migration from high- to low-wage countries, is that you cannot easily return for retirement because you’re not going to be able to save enough for the US’s housings prices or rents.

Konqueror, IIRC, will show you “virtual” MP3s & FLACs, complete with file sizes and all, when you put in an audio CD. You can copy these files to your hard disk. They are created on the fly, though.
